Compress an image to a size
Shrink a JPEG, PNG, or WebP under a kilobyte target. The result stays in this browser.
PNG cannot hit an arbitrary size because it is lossless. Pick JPEG or WebP for a hard cap. If the picture cannot get small enough without becoming a thumbnail, the tool says so.
Use this when a photo is too large to email or to upload somewhere else. You set a kilobyte target, and the page shrinks a JPEG or WebP toward that size without leaving this tab. A PNG is lossless, so it often cannot hit a small cap. If the picture would have to become a tiny thumbnail to fit, the page says so instead of pretending the file is smaller.
- 1Drop a photo.
- 2Set a target such as 50 KB.
- 3Download the smaller file, or the smallest attempt if the cap was missed.

Questions
- Will it always land under 50 KB?
- It tries quality first, then scales the long edge down. If it still misses, you get the smallest file and a clear miss, not a false success.
- Does it keep location data?
- The new file is a fresh encode, so GPS and other EXIF are not copied.
- Nothing is uploaded. Closing the tab drops the file.
- The picture is drawn on a canvas in this tab.
